Professional Medical Coding Curriculum Course - 2010
The Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (PMCC) is a comprehensive classroom or online course geared towards obtaining the proficiency required to correctly code, CPT®, HCPCS and ICD-9-CM for accurate reimbursement for professional services.
Individuals with or without a healthcare background can prepare for the course by taking our online medical terminology and anatomy and physiology courses before beginning the PMCC curriculum (see below for information). The course is designed to be digested by coders or noncoders on all levels.
The CPC and CPC-H course(s) covers compliance, anatomy and physiology, CPT-4, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS coding for the physician or facility setting. Upon completion of the course students are eligible to sit for the CPC/CPC-H examination. Additionally, students who satisfactorily complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
The weekend classes (bi-weekly) offers convenience and flexibility to attend class and maintain a busy life. You will have access to your instructor not only in person, but also via email and phone anytime. For our online students, we also offfer chat assistance when needed.
Individuals of all levels of experience may qualify to take this course. Your background is reviewed when you submit your registration form for recommendations to facilitate success. * NOTE: A high school graduation or GED is recommended prior to attending the course.
Course Description
The focus of this class is learning the coding rules for the CPT, ICD-9-CM, and Level II (HCPCS) coding systems and then applying the rules to ode patient services. In addition, a variety of payment systems are presented—DRG, APC, RUGSIII. The medical topics of Medicare fraud/abuse, HMOs, and PROs are also reviewed.

Professional Medical Coding Curriculum - Hospital (CPC-H) Course - 2010
The American Academy of Professional Coders offers a great CPC-H (Certified Professional Coder-Hospital) educational product. This certification examination will test the outpatient hospital coder in facility areas such as code assignment for home health, ICD-9-CM Coding Guidelines (including AHA Coding Clinic), ambulatory surgery, emergency department acuity levels, outpatient therapeutic services, the charge description master (CDM), hospital modifiers, revenue codes and the CMS-1450 (formerly UB-92) claim form. We are offering the Professional Medical Coder Curriculum-Hospital (PMCC-H), uniquely designed for the Outpatient Hospital Coder Credentials.

A coder who obtains the Certified Professional Coder - Hospital Certification is familiar with both the Physician Office Coding as well as the Hospital Based Outpatient Coding. The CPC-H has experience with coding and reimbursement issues for outpatient facility services including use of the CMS1450 form vs. the CMS1500 form, and use of revenue codes. The hospital outpatient coder also understands APC's and procedural vs. diagnostic based payment philosophies. Also the hospital outpatient coder should have knowledge of professional as well as facility billing procedures and use of all coding resources, and Medicare guidelines. This class includes:

Description
